About Kulturhaus III&70

The "Kulturhaus III&70" presents an unconventional programme with cultural events on four different floors. Without official sponsoring, but with lots of initiatives and commitment.

In fact it's the same row every week. On Friday night at 10 p.m. the "Kulturhaus III&70" in the heart of Hamburg's popular district "Schanzenviertel" is bursting at the seams. But what looks like another replaceable "in-club" is a well working microcosm of totally divergent cultures which meet under one roof.

After passing the crowd staying in the cafè at the ground floor, you can have a look at three completely different worlds: In the basement of the building people are dancing and enjoying Reaggae and Dancehallmusic. In the small backroom one can watch a performance. At the same time young musicians are presenting the Singer-Songwriter-Slam in the upper floor: one person, one guitar, one song and the audience is allowed to choose which musician they like best. All the time curious guests are glancing at the concerts or decide to stay for a while.

"That's our concept", explains Falk Hoquél, the managing director of the "Pferdestall Kultur GmbH" which is runnig the "Kulturhaus III&70. " On behalf of a coexistence of everyday-, sub- and high culture on four floors on all in all 1000 m² we want to support an lively exchange between the visitors of the different events."
